Under the Dome - Spoiler Full Edition

Do not read this unless you've already finished Under the Dome, or think you'll never read it anyway. I have a few very spoilerific complaints that I need to air, and would love to hear from anyone who disagrees with me.
Again, don't keep reading if you don't want to be spoiled

You're so right. Disappointment all around that dome. I would have liked to see the town run out of resources, like food and water, and then watch them turn on eachother.

And the aliens were unnecessary. I felt the same way about the ESP group think in "The Cell".

You're right, though. King makes it easy to read, even though the story was weak. Thanks for the review.

I have massive issues with SK’s later work. I was really geeked over Cell and The Mist both came out guns blazing. Then they kind of went limp I had no intention of reading The Dome. Frankly to be honest there are to many really good writers out there Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child, Jeff Carson, David Moody, and a host of others. King Lost me with his latter works some people say he hasn’t finished a Novel in ten years. Hearing this about The Dome really doesn’t surprise me, coming from the Author of Salem’s Lot, The Stand, Christine, it just saddens me.

Cell is actually the only other King book I've read in the last 10 years or so. And as you said, he polluted that one with supernatural elements that he could have as easily left out and still had a great story. That scene with the "zombies" flying down the road, several feet off the ground was a total turnoff for me.

Also The Cell was done better in Blood Crazy by Simon Clark. Also Michael Grant has a whole series starting with 'Gone'. I haven't read the second one yet but it's called Hunger.
