Just Finished Planet of the Apes

After Mad Max and Logan's Run, I just finished the Broken Sea audio production of Planet of the Apes.  At 14 episodes, it was the longest of the three I've tried so far, and also the best.  Acting, sound effects, music, and writing were all excellent.

The script was a combination of the original novel, which I've read a couple times, and the Charlton Heston movie that most people are familiar with.  It also added in a few extra elements that I wasn't familiar with, so  I'm not sure if they were original story lines or if they came from the subsequent movies plots.  We may get to find out because Broken Sea announced that a production of Beneath the Planet of the Apes will be coming out in the future, and hopefully, they'll expand on what they started.

Speaking of the subsequent movies, I happen to have the DVD box set of the entire Planet of the Apes series here at home.  I bought it years ago, and never watched any of them; I don't even know if I've seen all five movies ever.  But now that I'm in the mood for POTA, I'm going to start at the beginning and go through them all.

Up next for my listening enjoyment is a 1950 radio dramatization of the great book Earth Abides by George R. Stewart.
