What I'm Listening To

I just finished the audio version of World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War. As I've mentioned before, it was very good. It's not an audiobook per se, but rather is a set of interviews with a different actor playing each interviewee, some of them pretty big names like Alan Alda, Mark Hamil, Rob Reiner and Carl Reiner.

They say it's abridged, but I couldn't really tell if they meant it featured shortened versions of each interview or left out certain interviews entirely, though it was probably a bit of both. I don't recall the chapter from the book that talked about zombies crawling up anchor chains of ships, or the portion of the castle interview where he described fortresses that fell after so many dead piled up against that walls that they ended up just walking up and over the ramp of bodies.

But even so, whether you've read the book or not, it was excellent. Highly enjoyable and highly recommended.

Up next for me will BBC's 1968 version of Day of the Triffids.
