Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future

A couple of years ago, I came across a children's show from the late 80's called Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future. I had never heard of it before, but it sounded interesting so I picked up a set of DVDs off Ebay, and then promptly forgot about it.

Tonight I was browsing my media server looking for something to watch, and decided to fire up the first episode. Turns out it was pretty good.

The story is very Terminator'ish. In the 22nd century, after a war between humans and machines, the survivors stage a guerrilla war against the evil Lord Dread, using exoskeletal armored suits that turn them into one man armies.

The special effects are horrible; barely up to even the crappy standards set by shows like the Power Rangers. But the stories are actually decent. According to Wikipedia, the writers specifically tried to add in elements that would appeal to the adults watching the show with their kids. So there's romance, light language, and even main characters getting killed.

I only watched two episodes so far, but I like it, so I think I'll make my way through them all some day.
