Wasteland Weekend October 22-24 SoCal Desert

When you get married and have kids, you know that you're trading one possible life for another one, and unfortunately, events like the Wasteland Weekend are the kinds of things that you have to give up, at least for a while.

If I was unencumbered, so to speak, you can bet that late October 2010 would find me in the Southern California desert, probably dressed in some kind of studded leather with black spray painted football pads. And judging by the promo site for Wasteland Weekend 2010, I wouldn't be the only one, because post-apocalyptic fanaticism and costumes are both mandatory.

From the site: WASTELAND WEEKEND 2010 will be held on October 22-24, 2010 at Soggy Dry Lake in California’s Mojave Desert.

The event will be a 3-day Post-Apocalyptic theme party with camping, entertainment and themed atmosphere. Entertainment and activities will include:

* Top Industrial DJs from Southern California
* Fire dancers, grind acts and percussion performances
* The best post-apocalyptic vehicles in the country
* Post-apocalyptic vendors in “Bartertown”
* Gyrocopter fly-overs
* Staged combat shows
* Vehicle cruise and races
* Themed games, contests, and activities
* Video projections and music

Sounds like a blast. Maybe someday I'll actually make it to one.
